The Honda Civic Type-R with K20C turbo engine achieves 320ps with
2.0L with boost pressure exceeding 150kPa. The engine intake air
temperature rises to nearly 90°C showing the stock intercooler
capacity is insufficient.
The HKS intercooler uses a larger size intercooler to maintain cooling performance. The newly designed 100mm wide
core allows approximately 200% more area when compared to that of the stock core capacity.
The stock intercooler piping layout has a sharp bend stopping the intake air flowing smoothly and causes boost pressure
drop. The HKS intercooler integrates the inlet side tank of the intercooler and pipe to allow smoother air flow and
reduced air intake losses.
13001-AH004 Intercooler kit includes 13002-AH001 piping kit. Replacing the
stock rubber intercooler inlet and outlet hoses with aluminium piping
eliminates pipe expansion that can be associated with the stock factory
piping, allowing greater boost levels to be run and improving throttle
response.
